With super easy care and high tolerance to many light and soil conditions, the Philodendron hederaceum variegated plant is one of the easiest houseplants to grow!

Place your new indoor houseplant near a bright sunny window but avoid direct sunlight because this can scorch the variegated leaves. The philodendron brasil light requirements are medium to bright indirect light conditions for best results. A south or east facing window is preferred.

Philodendron brasil soil should be well draining and full of nutrients to keep the heart shaped philodendron looking its best. A well draining soil such as our Organic Aroid Potting Soil will work perfectly for your heart shaped leaf vine plant. Be sure to choose a container that has a drainage hole to avoid root rot. We recommended establishing a regular watering schedule to water whenever the soil feels dry to touch.

Repotting philodendron brasil may be required when the tropical plant outgrows its current living space. Freshen up potting mix every 1-3 years and trim back any leggy vines to encourage bushier growth. Philodendron plants are extremely easy to propagate in water so be sure to save any stem cuttings to give to friends!

Philodendron brasil fertilizer should be applied annually during the active growing seasons of spring and summer. Avoid fertilizing during the winter months. I bought this because every sunblock I own eventually gets in my eyes and burns the living daylights out of them. I prefer to use something that isn't laden with chemicals, is cruelty free and reef safe so this looked like it would fit the bill and indeed, it does. It is a true "no tears" formula which I very much appreciate. As with so many zinc based sunblocks there's still a slight "Kabuki mask" effect but it isn't as bad as some of the other zinc products. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's easy to spread because it doesn't have a lot of "slip", doesn't glide like the non-zinc products. You do have to work with it for awhile to get rid of the decidedly chalky consistency but once you get going it seems to be okay. I think somebody else mentioned using a moisturizer before you put it on which seems like good idea even though this is supposed to be moisturizing. Would I purchase this again? I'm pretty sure I will because the "no tears" aspect of the product is important to me. I'll probably use it with a light carrier oil on my face first, let that oil sink in and then put this on top.
